In this petition, a group of slaves from Massachusetts plead their cause to the colonial governor Thomas Hutchinson, asserting that they share a common and natural right to be free with white citizens. This petition is incomplete but it is possible it is an earlier draft to a later one because of many similarities. (See the online presentation of the later petition.)
